30 Day No Alcohol Challenge

Let me tell you a story.
James
It’s a story about a man who was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired.
He drank alcohol.
But he was not an alcoholic.
He drank a couple of glasses of red and white wine most weeknights after work, so he could relax.
He drank some beer on the weekends and the occasional gin and tonic.
He had a few drinks when celebrating birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and watching football games.
And sure, sometimes he got a little drunk and had some crazy nights with family and friends.

It was fun!
But he never had an alcohol problem.
He considered himself just a social drinker.
He never really got into trouble.
He just drank alcohol consistently.
It was part of his everyday life. His routine.
No big deal.
But years passed.
And the man began to realize something.
Suddenly, he’d put on 20lbs.
He was beginning to form a beer belly.
A small pouch of fat was hanging over his belt buckle.
His face looked puffy.
He looked back on photos from a couple of years earlier, and noticed how thinner his face appeared back then.
Now his skin was dry. Weathered.
There were a few more lines around the eyes and bags beneath them.
He wasn’t sleeping very well.
He was irritated easily.
He was tired.

Sluggish.
He liked his job but he didn’t love it.
He was feeling increasingly tired at the end of the day.
His relationships were OK. But they weren’t great.
All he was doing was existing. Nothing more.
He just felt “blah”.
Average.
Medicore.
Just existing.
